The top left (left) and top right (right) portions of a wide field unguided image using the lens. Note how the distortion is mainly absent from the left side - indicating a manufacturing fault (it did the same with someone elses Canon 1100D).

A very common problem with many lenses, alas. Indeed I had to junk a Canon "nifty fifty" since it was completely unusable for astro work due to this. The person who sold it to me must have known!!
