In the beginning... At 16 years old I made the mirror (under close supervision) at night classes and my father and I put together the rest. Mounting was simple alt-azimuth on 2" threaded metal plumbers' pipe. Some parts - spider and secondary holder, eyepiece adaptor, and simple Ramsden eyepieces were made by a local enthusiast with a workshop. A finder came later - better than sighting up the tube.
