About this image

Photograph was taken on 12th April 1969.

Something quite unusual!  John Davies an industrial chemist, originally from England, moved into Queensland from his home in the Sydney area, bringing with him his 16" F5.5 reflector on its unusual mounting. Here it is set up temporarily in the back yard of his rented property while he was looking around for more permanent housing. I later acquired the mounting when he remounted the instrument in an English Equatorial mount (closed fork between two piers). However I was not able to use it and re-sold it after several years.
