About this image

Mare Cognitum area of the moon. Landing site for Apollo 12 an incredible 39 years ago (Nov 1969) where astronauts recovered parts of the Surveyer 3 probe which had landed over two years earlier.

You can re-live the landing here, if you're old enough to remember. I was only 5, but I remember the Apollo 11 landing.
