About this image

Mars is now getting notably smaller in apparent diameter, and so it is harder to see the finer details on the surface.  Here are two drawings I made last night, one with the red W25A filter.  The Mare Cimmerium is the primary dark feature streaking across the disk.  To the far south, the faint south polar cap can just be seen.  The brighter regions of Electris and Eridania were also quite easy to see.  To the north, the Elysium plateau is visible- this of course is the landing site of NASA's InSitght spacecraft.
