Spectropolarimetry - VV Cep

About this image

Another attempt at spectropolarimetry, this time with VV Cep which I've been monitoring so far only with broadband filters. Convolving the spectra with synthetic V-Band in ISIS yields a linear polarisation of 1.35% and angle 39.6 degrees. Measurements from 1 week before using V-Band filter gave 1.5% and 37.6 degrees respectively so reasonably close. Below 4500 Angstrom the measurements are suspect. Although the Wollaston separates the spectral orders, some caution needed above 7500 Angstrom also. Yet another part success only.
