About this image

Here is a comparison at the same image scale of Mars and nearby Aldebaran with my 444mm scope using an Astronomiks 642nm filter for both. Interesting to compare the size of the details on the surface with the size of the Airy disc of the star.

Mars was 4.5" across and Airy disc (dia of first dark ring) should be about 0.8" and Dawes limit about 0.33".
