About this image

A slightly grotty image of OJ 287  taken last night . Not much to look at grant you BUT it's stupendous. It is a binary black hole in a BL Lac object in Cancer 3.5 billion light-years distant. The more massive is 18 billion solar masses, the less massive is a mere 100 million solar masses. One of Paul Abel and Pete Lawrence's challenges from the Winchester Weekend. Food for thought?
