About this image

A montage of images obtained during an ISS pass from 23:13 to 23:16 BST on the 26th. Each image is a sharpened stack of between 4 and 16 frames at various points during the pass when the ISS was in the field of the camera. The sequence runs from bottom to top left as the ISS was rising in the west, then from top to bottom right as it went from its highest elevation and vanished behind my roof. The early images are quite poor because the altitude of the ISS was between 20 and 35 degrees, but the apparent rotation can be seen in the change of position of the solar arrays. The later images at higher altitude show significant detail. The gap between the two sequences is where I lost the tracking for a while: tracking was done by hand using an auxiliary telescope and non-recording camera. Selected frame sequences were processed in PIPP and Registax.
