About this image

I was near to the Siding Spring Observatory recently but was travelling light so only had a small tripod and my trusty Sony A7s. No space for a tracking drive. This is a stack of short exposures taken on a fixed tripod from the back of a motel about 2km from the centre of Coonabarabran. The lens is a relatively cheap Sony 50mm, f/1.8. This was taken at f/2.5 and the stars near the corner are a bit seagull shaped but not too bad. The bright star in the centre right on the top edge is Canopus. The limiting mag is around 13.
