Although designated NSV 2026 (New catalogue of Suspected Variables), amateur observations made over the last decade have shown this to be a Cataclysmic Variable of type UGSU (Dwarf Novae), displaying both ordinary outbursts (short) and superoutbursts (longer and brighter). Observations made during December 2019 and January 2020 have particularly shown this well, with both types of outbursts having occurred. The period is comparatively short for a classical UGSU star, so I suspect that 'just maybe' NSV 2026 is an extreme UGSU of sub-group ER UMa, first identified as recently as 1994.
NSV 2026 can be found in Taurus, lying just over 3 degrees south of M1 (Crab Nebula). The range is catalogued as 13.2-18.0CV, although my observations over the past 7-8 years have shown it can get to mag. 18.5
One day, the powers that be will decide to give it a proper Variable Star designation - but I'm not holding my breath!
