QZ Vir April 2020 superoutburst

About this image

The first outburst of this UGSU star since May 2019, and a slightly unusual one in that the precursor outburst which sometimes triggers the superoutburst was actually the brighter of the two - usually the superoutburst is the brighter.  A small post outburst brightening was also observed, not that common in QZ Vir.

Some 10 days after QZ Vir reached magnitude 15.5, quiescent magnitude of ~16.0 had still not been reached, with the star varying slightly about 0.5-0.7 mag brighter than it's usual minimum level.

QZ Vir had a previous life prior to 2006, when it was known as T Leo.  It was included as a renamed variable in the 78th name list of variable stars in IBVS 5721, August 2006.
