About this image

It is not often you get to image something that is in the SOHO coronagraph field of view from home but Venus approaching inferior conjunction is one of those times. I'm not a planetary imager but it is fun to follow Venus (with great care) as it approaches the Sun. I'm not sure how much closer I'll go. Even with a long dewcap the sun is aready shining down the tube and focussing a bright patch off-axis on the tube wall. Certainly one of the advantages of a Go-To mount and a camera is that my eyes are never in the optical path. The worst that can happen is a melted telescope/camera.
