About this image

The thin crescent Venus is now far enough from the Sun to be safely viewed against a blue sky. The crescent is a lovely sight  - sadly my rather primitive kit doesn’t really do it justice. I did manage to see Venus on June 5 less than two days after this very close inferior conjunction. It was a difficult observation with the telescope stopped down and shaded to reduce the uncomfortable brilliance of the background sky but there was no way I could image Venus.
