About this image

Despite patchy cloud I was determined to image NEOWISE on 22 July as I knew its closest appropach would be the following night when heavier cloud was forecast and there would be no chance. In the end I took several sets of images at different exposure times, 8 seconds, 15 seconds and 30 seconds. In going through them aftewards many of the sets had been compromised by cloud but I managed to find a sequence of 40 images, of which these are the better 20 at 30 seconds per image, which I stacked on both the comet and then a short stack on the stars and then blended the two images together. To bring out more detail of the comet's features I have also produced a negative black and white image of the same data.
