Mars this morning!
About this image
Attached are two drawings I made of Mars last night. The seeing was poor but I was able to see a number of things of interest:
- The SPC is now notably smaller and less conspicuous compared the my last view. The Lowell band continues to fragment and is no longer a uniform boundary around the cap.
- There seemed to be bright clouds in Thyle II and Ausonia- these were particularly apparent in Drawing 1 but they had faded somewhat by drawing 2.
- The Mare Chronium was visible as a darks break separating Thyle II, electric and Eridania (although I could see no boundary between either Electris or Eridania).
- The Mare Sirenum and Care Cimmerium were fairly dark and not uniform in appearance- particularly their northern boundaries which looked somewhat irregular.
- Trivium Charontis and Cerberus seen as vague streaks, Elysium was not particularly conspicuous.
- White haze present to the far north and on the fol. limb.
Best wishes,
-Paul
