Jupiter and the Great Red Spot

About this image

The evening of 6-7 August was relatively calm for a change and I was able to capture a sequence showing how over just an hour's period Jupiter's Great Red Spot transits across the upper atmosphere of the giant planet.  I've used a 642nm IR pass filter as both luminance and red and then captured separate green and blue data to combine.  These are three sequences taken at half hourly intervals, each sequence taking less than three minutes to complete.
