Stunning Mars!

About this image
Attached is an observation of Mars I made on 8th August.  The seeing was really rather excellent and I had some of my finest views of the Mars- the 12" Newtonian really performed and pulled out some splendid fine details on the disk.
The first thing to catch my attention was what looked like brilliant yellowish clouds on the morning limb over the Thyle I region and extending up to/into the the SPC.  I made a separate drawing the the SPC and its environs at a power of x300.  On the evening terminator was the Solis Lacus feature, but it looked much more muted than I recall before.  Argyle II and Mare Australe seemed to be well defined as brighter patches
To the west, Aonius Sinus and the Mare Sirenum were seen but again in a much more subdued fashion suggesting Martian dusk is present in the atmosphere.  The yellowish colour extended down over much of the following limb.
Best wishes,
-Paul
