About this image

Reasonable conditions again in the small hours of Monday morning revealing considerable detail in red light.

The dark vertical marking just left of centre is Syrtis Major, to its left are Syrtis Minor and Mare Tyrrenhenum. Above Syrtis Major is the brighter area of Hellas with the dusky Zea Lacus, Peneus and Yaonis Fretum. The latter separates Hellas from the lighter streak of Yaonis Regio. Sinus Sabaeus stretches horizontally towards the right limb. The bright area between Syrtis Major and Sinus Sabaeus comprises the deserts of Aeria, Arabia and Moab.
