About this image

Approx 4am local time 20th February 1961. The planets were in the morning sky. My original 6  inch telescope on its tripod is silhouetted in the foreground. The closest approach was a few days earlier but it is a very cloudy time of year.  I was 18 at the time... (Now 78 and certainly feeling it.)
