About this image

Targetting weekly Mars imaging sessions. This one in very variable seeing last night and  very frosty conditions with the sky at -33C and the ground at 0C so lots of local convection. Still, a couple of colour videos later on yielded some detail.

Even with local convections, the image reveals good details, thinking about angular diameter of Mars. Do you mean -33°C up in the sky? How do you know this measurement?

Hi David,

I use a gun type radiative thermometer. I regular record the sky temperature and ground temperature with it. It is usually 30C different. Occasionally the difference falls to 15 or 20C and I know that convective cooling will be much less of an issue.
