Title

The Moon through a 1,000nm pass filter

About this image

A fellow member of my astronomical society had some spare glass from his work on spectography and kindly made up a 1,000nm pass filter which he has given me on 'loan' for as long as I can make use of it.  While wanted primarily for Venus the Moon in the early hours gave me a chance to test out the filter.   This is a three panel mosaic taken at slow frame rates (9-12fps) and yet has still come out acceptably in average seeing conditions.
