About this image

We're all so familar with Orion and regularly image it's many fascinating components but only a deep widefield image shows it in all its real glory. I've been wanting to image this for some time, so finally rigged up my modded Canon 550D with the "Nifty Fifty" Canon lens and in between breaks in the almost ever present cloud, I was really pleased to get this exciting image of Orion and all it's usually unseen parts shown here with a more typical naked-eye view on the left. I'd have liked some more integration but in the current weather conditions this was something of a gift as it started snowing towards the end!
