About this image

Fairly good seeing (Ant II-III) on the evening of the 19th allowed plenty of detail to be recorded. The partly lava-flooded crater Fracastorius lies on the southern side of Mare Nectaris basin. Post-flooding subsidence of the basin led to the cracking of the lava fill, forming the narrow rille crossing the crater just below the centre.
