About this image

NGC 2419, The Intergalactic Wanderer, is an object I've not observed previously and it was set as a target for me by the Cambridge Astronomical Association as part of an online, public EAA session with the Cambridge IOA. I was fascinated by the story behind trying to understand this object and captured this image of it in a single evening.

The image includes the striking, blue and yellow, double star WDS HU 842 to the right of the cluster. Inspection of the image will reveal individual stars in the cluster, including an intense blue star at 10 o'clock on the edge of the core.  Also, there is a sprinkling of very faint, mag 17 and 18, galaxies across the background.
