About this image

High pressure, minimal jet-stream and a slight haze produced superb conditions with Antoniadi I-II seeing. Hadley rille is near the centre of the image; the Apollo 15 landing site was on the plain just above the north (upper) section of the rille. The crater near the top is Autolycus.
