About this image

Lacus Mortis is a patch of mare inside an ancient impact feature with a hexagonal shape. The 40 km crater Burg lies off-centre within it. On the near side in this view is a feature that starts as a rille on the mare, then transforms into a fault well before it reaches the rim. The crater on the right with the flat floor is Hercules.
