About this image

A two-frame mosaic of a complex and fascinating region of the Moon, captured under good conditions. This area contains a huge variety of features, from Bullialdus at the top right, the flooded crater Kies with its "handle", the nearby dome Kies Pi, the curving Hippalus rilles and the intersecting rille system around Ramsden at the bottom of the image.
