About this image

A relatively high-Sun view of the three craters Ptolemaeus, Alphonsus and Albategnius, emphasizing albedo differences. There are nine or ten identifiable volcanic vents inside Alphonsus, with dark pyroclastic deposits around them. The summit crater on the central peak of Albategnius is quite clear, and a bonus feature is the Davy crater chain on the left-hand side of the image.
