About this image

Two of the Lunar 100 in this image: the 227 km crater Schickard (No. 39), with the stripe of pale material across its floor, and Wargentin (No. 44), a crater whose interior has been almost completely filled with lava, forming a kind of plateau with wrinkle ridges and some residual rim walls. The dark regions in the north and south of Schickard are lava flows which covered the lighter material (probably ejecta from Mare Orientale) in those areas.
