Title

Comet C/2020 T2 (Palomar)

About this image

Despite almost full moon (93%) managed to capture C/2020 T2 (Palomar) in this 50min exposure. You can also identify 2 main galaxies in the field, the one on the top right corner is NGC 5347 (mag. 12.7), the second closer to the Comet to the right NGC 5318 (mag. 13.5). Though the field is dotted with many tiny galaxies, I resolved some down to mag. 16.

By comparing the brightness of the comet to the closest star (BD +34 2456) which is mag.10, I estimate the comet to be of mag. 11.0, though it's only a visual guess. I was initially confused with Comet Atlas as they were close to each other.

Good shot. What magnitude would you estimate the comet is now?

Thanks Jim, by comparing the comet brightness to the nearest star after plate-solving, I guess the mag. is 11.0, though it's only a visual guess.

10.5 - I think I might try to get an image when opportunity permits. Thanks.
