About this image

A spectrum obtained while testing and learning how to use an Alpy 600 with a small refractor. The blue shows the raw spectrum, and I simply calibrated the instrument response curve using an A0V reference spectrum by smoothing (low pass filter) the raw divided by the reference curve. Then the original was divided by the IRC. It's not a proper independent correction, and more of a fast technique to use the reference curve to bend the raw data into shape, but it worked ok in this case, and illustrates the potential of the Alpy 600.

Armed with this response curve (which includes the atmospheric extinction) you can now correct any other star provided it is at similar air mass. There is a document on my website here which goes into this in more detail

Thanks Robin!
