About this image

The 68 km diameter asteroid (179) Klytaemnestra, mag 12.5, occulted a mag 9.2 star in Gemini for 4.96s.

Thin cloud cleared just before the D, and the field was clear from mid-event until the R. This is why the signal is lower before the occultation than afterwards. The 'step' between D and R was caused by the improvement in sky clarity.

The asteroid, was visible a few minutes before the occultation as it approached the target star, and between D and R.

D - 20 14 27.60 ± 0.08

R - 20 14 32.56 ± 0.08

Duration : 4.96s

Mid-event : 20 14 30.08
