About this image

This interesting galaxy was discovered by 14-year-old Edward Swift, son of American astronomer Lewis Swift, in 1885. The central nucleus and bar are well seen together with the inner ring. There are faint indications of the split arms.

Distance c.150million ly. Diameter c.130,000 ly.
