The Coat hanger asterism Cr 399

About this image

These are data from last summer that had been pending in the processing drawer.

The Coat hanger asterism, CR 399, beautiful and well-known open cluster of the summer sky, also known as the Al Sufi or Brocchi cluster, in the constellation Vulpecula. Actually, this object is not a true cluster at all, but rather just a chance alignment of stars. Only 6 of the brightest stars would be part of a true cluster.

To the right of the image, as an extension of its arm, NGC 6802. In the lower left corner IC 1299. The entire lower central part of the group is bathed in a suggestive blue haze.
