About this image

Eris is 65+ AU away, mag 18.8 and -1Dec, so its not especially well placed. But, given its orbital period I won't be waiting for it to move into a more favourable position.

Its not a very strong detection - just SNR=7 according to AA8 - but it does indicate that I can get below 20th mag in about 25 minutes which is very good to hear as it means I can handle PV Cep in Gyulbudaghian's neb as faint as its ever been recorded....

Yes, I know that no one is going to hang this on their wall, but I was reasonably happy with it.

OK, I am not going to hang it on my wall either (I am running low on wall space) but it looks pretty good to me!

Another one for my bucket list.

Thought I would work my way down a list of the brightest and see how far I get.

Am slightly concerned that my astrometry is out by an arc second, but will check my home brew code for a 0.5 pixel offset in Dec and RA.

I will see if its improved by restricting the field of view to reduce the impact of field distortions - f/4.
