About this image

This edge-on lenticular (or possibly spiral) galaxy looks as if it is a 'double galaxy' with two bright cores and associated disks. This illusion is created by the dust lane that bisects the image. Distance c.40million ly. Diameter c.60,000 ly. Apparent mag. 10.7.

Bortle 7/8, light cloud cover, but a rising gibbous Moon largely hidden by cloud.
