About this image

This bright meteor was recorded on my SE-facing RMS camera UK000J - and my SW-facing UK000U just caught the end of its appearance. It was also fully recorded on my UFO Capture camera Leeds_SE. Both systems classify it as a slow-moving sporadic, duration 3.6s, with a peak apparent magnitude of around -2.5 to -2.9. (The fainter parallel line under the meteor is its internal reflection).

It matches this event on the IMO's Fireballs Database

https://fireballs.imo.net/members/imo_view/event/2022/1318?org=imo

It was bright, but not as intense as the visual reports of mags -10 to -18. The estimates of around mag -5 by observers nearer its ground track are more realistic.
