About this image

A first attempt at this faint, diffuse spheroidal galaxy, about 820,000 ly distant. Even after 80 minutes exposure the object is barely visible. The proximity of Regulus (outside the frame at lower right) adds to the difficulties. But I am pleased to have seen anything at all!

Bortle 7/8, no Moon.

Update: I tried again on March 23, increasing the exposure to 120min. But the result was disappointing and worse than my original image. Transparency poor.

Update 2: another try on April 7 produced a better result after 25min. See later image.
