About this image

This interesting spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices lies at a distance of c.29million ly. The image reveals rather loose, irregular arms with conspicuous knots of blue stars and a curious vertical column of stars ascending to the right of the galaxy. The galaxy is tilted 67 degrees to our line of sight. In this image at least, it looks like a fairly peculiar galaxy, although Halton Arp may not have thought so. Well worth closer inspection.
