About this image

Another Messier object for the album. Imaging galaxies in the Virgo cluster is tricky due to inevitable poor weather and the brightening evenings. I have been observing objects in this area of the sky over several years and there are yet more Messier objects to observe.

This time I was aided by the speed and efficiency of the ZWO ASI294MC one-shot colour camera and managed to produce this image with 100 minutes of data, about a third of the time I would need with my QSI camera.

A whole bunch of globular clusters are visible in that image if you look carefully.

I just took a closer look at the image.  The jet is definitely visible on close scrutiny, though at rather low contrast. It helps to know where to look.
