About this image

Observed this bright and active aurora from about 23.15 to 00.20 UT. Originally a quiet arc about 20° high it seemed set to stay that way in the rather bright moonlight. Eventually rays began to appear below the arc which gradually developed into a bright rayed band. The moonlight continued to dim the display somewhat. I was busy taking images with the camera and then at 23.55 UT bright and rapid 'flaming' appeared on the cameras LCD panel - the view was so good on the LCD I eventually decided to try filming it 'live' - the video can be found here: https://youtu.be/isxFWtRb-rI

It was a lovely display and your real-time video really shows how dynamic it was. I was just up the road from you so it will be interesting to compare images taken at the same time.
