About this image

This animated gif compares a 10 minute exposure of M3 using the live stacking function in Sharpcap with an ASI ZWO 224 MC non-cooled CMOS (30 second exposures) on an 80mm apo refractor (SW ED80), against a 5 minute exposure from a Unistellar eVscope. The clarity of the ED80 image is much better, and I wonder if the eVscope needs collimating and improvements made in the focus. We were experimenting with the live stacking function in Sharpcap, and whilst we think the eVscope definitely has a place in amateur astronomy, the clarity difference in this instance is marked.

To be honest, I have wondered to what extent the hype about the eVscope has been justified. This is an interesting observation in my opinion.
