About this image

The bright Perseid meteor recorded by Nick James, as captured from Leeds, facing SE in a slightly hazy sky. From my location it had a peak apparent magnitude of -2.5.

Bright meteors can cause the front glass of the camera housing and the lens to produce optical artefacts, such as the secondary 'meteor' below the main trail and the faint reflections on the left.
