About this image

Here's my example of a bright Perseid. This one was captured on my NW facing camera, UK004D and reached mag -2 just above the tail of Ursa Major. The realtime video here shows that it left a train which persisted for several seconds. It is a busy time of the year for meteor cameras despite the nearly full moon. Each of my four cameras is detecting around 70 events a night at the moment, many of them Perseids.

Hi Nick, a very nice example of this year's Perseid display, illustrating how the shower can be recorded by pointing a camera, or observing visually, to the north to evade the Full Moon.

The view from The Shire of the same meteor is uploaded here.

Clear skies,

Alex.
