Jupiter Drawing and Observation

About this image

My first drawing of Jupiter this year.  The most striking featured observed were the group of ovals on the SSTB.

On the SSTB, there are four ovals A3, A4 on the preceding limb, with a larger oval lower in latitude on the central meridian and oval A5 on the following side.

The larger oval ( between A4 and A5) is most recent. It started off as a small  folded filamentary riff and grew into an oval. This  is according to an extensive report I read posted on the BAA Jupiter Section  by Rogers and Adamoli.

The SEB is bifurcated with an obliqueness extending towards the SEBs border. On the SEBn border there is an oval with trailing streak which extends into the EQZ.

There is an arching festoon with a festoon base at each end of it on the central meridian.

The NEB looked especially thin on this night, but was a vivid reddish brown. On the NEBn border there is a fairly large oval that’s on the following limb.

The NTB was narrow and very faint.

So far,Jupiter this apparition seems very active with lots of changes occurring all over the planet. It looks like it will be an exciting apparition.

Clear and steady skies.
