There still remains a remnant of the South polar cap at the top of the image. At the bottom is the North polar hood.

Solis Lacus, the "Eye of Mars" is just to the left of the central meridian. The arch shaped feature to the right is Mare Sirenum. The white spot to its immediate lower left is likely clouds formed over the volcano Arsia Mons.
