About this image

Palomar 12 is a relatively obscure globular cluster.

It was first catalogued as a GC and then thought by Zwicky to be a dwarf galaxy in the local group. Currently it is believed to be a relatively young globular cluster which is in the process of being captured from (or has already been stripped from) the Sagittarius Dwarf Elliptical Galaxy (SagDEG). Whether you regard it as a galactic GC or an extragalactic example is up to you; either way I regard it as interesting if not as photogenic as, say, M13 or omega Centauri.
