NGC6921, MCG+04-48-002 Galaxies in Vulpecula

About this image

A fairly brief and unexpected break in the cloud cover gave me a chance to see these two visually small and faint galaxies. The Unistellar continued to stack images for some time after the cloud returned until it became too dense to continue the session.

NGC6921 is a faint lenticular galaxy in Vulpecula. It was discovered by the German astronomer Albert Marth in September 1863 while working at George Bishop's observatory in London. Distance. c.199million ly. Apparent dimensions c.0.9'x0,2'. Apparent mag. 13.4.

Just visible is the fainter Seyfert2 galaxy MCG+04-48-002 (MCG=Morphological Catalogue of Galaxies).

Bortle 7/8, extensive high cloud.
