About this image

M93 is a class IV1p open cluster situated in Puppis. It was discovered in Mar 1781 by Charles Messier. Too low in the southern sky to be well seen from my location, the more advantageous position of the COAST in Tenerife has yielded this image. To me it shows a box-like pattern of stars with two attached streams of stars emanating from its upper left and lower right corners, a rather nice image.

Distance c.3,600ly. Diameter c.20-25ly. Age c.100million yrs.
